Happy Fourth of July, Malibu!

Weather for the long weekend will range from the mid-70s during the day to the low 60s at night, with low winds and a partly cloudy Friday afternoon that’s expected to dissipate for clear fireworks conditions on Independence Day.

The National Weather Service reports an increased chance of strong rip currents throughout the long weekend, including an elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet. Beachgoers should plan on staying close to lifeguard stations and if caught in a rip current, swim parallel to the shore.

Three firework shows are happening Friday night in Malibu, click here for information on locations.

If you’re looking for something to do around town, the Point Dume community will host its annual Fourth of July parade, starting at 9:30 a.m. on Birdview Avenue and Bluewater Road. Three different fireworks shows are scheduled on Independence Day for the Malibu Colony area, Paradise Cove and Broad Beach, beginning around 9 p.m.
