gun control walkout-NOW

On Friday, April 20, a group of Malibu High School students participated in a nationwide school walk-out as part of an ongoing wave of student activism against gun violence.

Student organizers chose April 20 because it was the 19th anniversary of the Columbine massacre in Littleton, Colo. That shooting, which left 13 dead, is considered the first major mass school shooting in United States history.

Malibu High School, which formed the second “O” in “schools,” combined with students from nearby high schools— El Camino Real Charter High School, Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies, Taft Charter High School, Thousand Oaks High School, La Reina High School, Westlake High School, Canoga Park High School, Culver City High School, Ulysses S. Grant High School, Newbury Park High School, Viewpoint School and Royal High School—to spell out “We need #safeschoolsnow!”
