Mitchell Dickson and Tyler Murrah are two of Pepperdine’s latest baseball recruits for the 2019 season. The team’s head coach, Rick Hirtensteiner, made the announcement on May 24.
According to Pepperdine Athletics, Dickson and Murrah are the team’s 11th and 12th recruits for the upcoming season.
Dickson joins the team as a catcher from Flower Mound, Texas; as a junior, he was named Defensive Player of the Year for the Texas District 6-6A division. In a personal statement to Next College Student Athlete, Dickson said, “Being a freshman in a 6A program ranked No. 1 in the country was an exciting time. Yet, I learned more as the starting varsity catcher my sophomore year that missed the playoffs by one win.”
Murrah also hails from Texas—specifically Dallas. The left-handed pitcher was named 2018 Pitcher of the Year for the Texas District 9-6A division.
“Pepperdine is the perfect place to play college baseball. The team is like a family, the academics are great and you get to play baseball in Malibu. It doesn’t get much better than that,” Murrah said to Pepperdine Athletics.
