Malibu resident Wilfred E. Link died March 11 at the age of 82.

Link was born in Toledo, Ohio on Jan. 2, 1930, and was the oldest child of Wally and William Link. After graduating from high school, he followed his desire to fly planes by joining the U.S. Air Force in 1947. He continued his career in the Air Force until he retired as a Master Sergeant in Electronics and Calibration in 1969.

After the Air Force, Link decided to go back to school and received a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in business administration/accounting at California State University, Northridge. He then began his second career working for the government as an auditor from the late 1970s until his retirement in 1990.

Link was an avid reader and sports fan, and especially liked football and golf. He also enjoyed the companionship of his dogs, Rocky and Gretchen, who preceded him in death.

“His wife, Marilynn, and the community will sorely miss his sweet, kind, gentle, generous nature to lend a helping hand around the house and elsewhere,” Link’s family wrote.

Link is survived by his wife, Marilynn. He was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Link Goldstein.

A service will take place April 13 at Our Lady of Malibu Church, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Link’s name to the Monsignor John Sheridan DVD Film Fund at Our Lady of Malibu Church, 3625 Winter Canyon Rd., Malibu CA. 90265.
