Fighting mad

I just got back from attending today’s Mountain Recreation and Conservation Authority meeting. It was an informative experience for me. Most of the people on the board looked familiar, as many are the same folks who populate the board of the SMMC.They exhibited the identical “rubber stamp” behavior when it came to approving agenda item #9. That’s the one giving the go-ahead to punishing Malibu for our declaration of independence from Joe Edmiston’s oppressive fascist kingdom. I did have the oppotunity to speak and you will be pleased to hear that I was on my best behavior, wearing a suit and not screaming even one time, “It’s about the fire, stupid!” My bud, Ken Kearsley, would have been proud. From this attorney whose name I never got-she refused to shake my hand-I was told that the Ramirez Canyon residents were not grateful for the SMMC’s offer to repave the country road. The attorney went on to say that Ramirez residents made constant, escalating demands when discussing the activities at the Streisand estate with the SMMC. When I mentioned the brutal SMMC-originating traffic the Ramirez residents experience, that observation was dismissed as well.

During a recess, while the chairman was outside on his cell phone doing a big financial deal of some kind, I was informed that Malibu presented a real stone in the shoe of the well-meaning Mountain Recreation and Conservation Authority board. While 100 percent of the other cities with which they interact embrace 100 percent of their activities, that stupid ol’ Malibu just refuses to fall into line. What to do? Apparently, once Big Brother anesthetized the other municipalities, they embraced their fate and became a willing partner in their own defeat. Bad is good. War is peace. Love is hate and all that chilling George Orwell stuff was there in full view.

We are in for a ride and those guys have our own tax dollars with which to fight us. Through the looking glass.
