Letter: Not Fighting Fair

Every two years, since the beginning of Malibu cityhood, there have been members of this community who believe that their right to support a candidate for Malibu City Council includes their right to play below-the-belt-politics. I’m not only referring to the smears, lies, distortions thrown around by that segment of our population, I am also speaking about the removal or destruction of the campaign signs of candidates they want their own candidates to defeat.

Without naming names, there have been perpetrators who have been busted but continue to rise up again without the stench of a skunk. Since there are no rules about political fair play, like it or not, I guess we have to live with it. Or not!

I challenge you good people out there in the Malibuland I love so dearly to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, “I’m mad, and I’m not going to take this anymore!”

Of course it won’t help, but it’ll sure make you feel better.
