Nearly 100 members of the Malibu Association of Realtors attended the recent Quarterly Membership Meeting at Duke’s Malibu, hosted by 2009 President Bill Bowling and Executive Officer Susan Manners.

Door prizes were awarded to Realtors and affiliated members, donated by sponsors Peggy Lawyer Gregg of Malibu’s Homes & Land Magazine; April Kass of La Rocca Inspections and Jerel Taylor of American Trust Escrow. Sponsors also shared information with members, including how to maximize the home inspection process for clients, optimize search engine for listings and incorporate social media into business plans.

Thomas Glatt, president and CEO of the Realtor Federal Credit Union, made a special appearance to speak about the first fully virtual, federally insured credit union. Gov Hutchinson, assistant legal counsel for the California Association of Realtors, shared details of the latest changes in real estate contracts currently in the pipeline for approval. A formal announcement of the 2010 Board of Directors was also made; Jan Thompson will serves as president; Mark Gruskin of Westside Estates Agency will serve as vice president; and Teresa Hames of Prudential and Brian Merrick of Coldwell Banker will be new directors.

Environmental advocate Ed Begley Jr. is scheduled to speak at a 2010 meeting, while Vic Peterson, director of development for the City of Malibu, will speak at the MAR’s upcoming Feb. 23 meeting. More information may be obtained online at www.maliburealtors.org
