Not a time to hurry

At the last meeting of the Planning Commission, the commission members made a clear statement that they did not have the time or the information to complete the review of the Malibu Bay Company Environmental Impact Report as scheduled by the city staff and stated that they felt it was their duty to take the time required to do the job correctly.

Apparently, the city staff and City Council have taken the position that the Planning Commission must rush the project through the system for some unknown political reasons. I would like to commend Chairman Richard Carrigan and commission members David Fox, Deirdre Roney, Robert Adler and John Siebert for putting the best interests of the community first and for being willing to do what is best for Malibu. Without a clear understanding of what the Malibu Bay Company agreement will mean to Malibu, there is no way the citizens can make an intelligent decision when it finally comes to a vote. I urge all citizens of Malibu to contact the members of the City Council and ask them to allow the Planning Commission to do their job.
