The article described Malibu as a perfect place for all types of honeymooners, a “dreamy small town … practically made for newlyweds. With romantic activities from wine tasting to horseback riding on the beach.”

Tourism — particularly the rising popularity of short term vacation rentals — in Malibu is controversial among locals. Although many local Malibu residents complain about the tourist take-over during the summer season, the visitors bring a lot of money in with vacation rentals. Just last year, the City of Malibu made over two million dollars on transient occupancy taxes.
