A 2.8 magnitude earthquake was recorded in western Malibu around Trancas Canyon on Thursday morning, Jan. 17, according to information from the United States Geological Survey.
Described by Malibu city officials as a “weak magnitude earthquake,” the quake—which occurred at 12:35 a.m.—did not immediately appear to cause damage.
As of 1 o’clock a.m. Thursday, the city reported it was “sending a public works crew out to assess the area.”
