The Malibu Township Council (MTC) joined Malibu CAN and other opponents of Measure M endorsing a statement that encourages renewed dialogue between the Malibu community and the Malibu Bay Co. In addition, MTC submitted the following letter to the Malibu City Council reinforcing its resolve that obtaining the consensus of the community is mandatory to achieving acceptance of any plan for development by the Malibu Bay Co. of its properties in the city of Malibu.

“Dear Mayor Kearsley. As you requested at the City Council meeting of Nov. 10, we are sending you this letter to indicate our willingness to participate in future discussions with Malibu Bay Co. We strongly believe that if the Bay Co. is interested in further discussion, it must first be determined what residents of our community will support.

“The undersigned extend you an invitation to participate in a dialogue on how to best meet each others’ needs. With input from all community stakeholders, we believe this effort an yield a mutually beneficial and agreeable vision of MBC’s holdings, within the context of the General Plan. We are hopeful that this process could ultimately receive widespread community support. We look forward to your consideration of this invitation.

“Should MBC agree to further discussion we will anticipate being involved in efforts to establish a community consensus on this subject, and strongly advocate that the community be involved in every step of the way.”

Efrom Fader, president,

MTC
