The Malibu Women’s Club awarded 12 scholarships to seniors from Malibu High School and Viewpoint School at an awards banquet on May 24 at Sunset Restaurant. Each senior received a $1,000 scholarship for scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities and community service.
Sixteen fifth graders from local elementary schools were also given writing awards at the banquet. The students’ essays responded to the prompt, “Pick your favorite fairytale or children’s book. How would you continue the story?” First-place essay winners were awarded $150, and second-place winners received $100.
