Malibu Pool Closed, Outdoor Activities Cancelled Due to Poor Air Quality

Malibu High Sharks swimmers compete at a May 2017 meet at the MHS pool.

Outdoor activities have been cancelled at Malibu High School due to poor air quality, a notice from the City of Malibu announced on Friday afternoon.

“The Malibu Community Pool is closed until air quality readings reach an appropriate level and all outdoor activities and programs are cancelled until further notice,” the city’s notice stated. The notice was delivered just after 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 11.

The closure was due to “sensors at Malibu High School reporting unhealthy air quality.”

No further information was immediately available.
