A new Malibu real estate record could be broken soon if NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer gets the $125 million asking price for his Paradise Cove-area home. The mansion, which sits on an over three-acre blufftop site, is a modern style by the late noted architect Charles Gwathmey. The home has five bedrooms and six bathrooms within its nearly 14,000 square feet. Although the home is not listed in the MLS (Multiple Listing Service), these mega deals usually are made through word-of -mouth channels among top brokers.
The home was the site of a star-studded party last week, attended by the likes of Barbra Streisand, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston. Meyer hosted the evening as a fundraiser for the Natural Resources Defense Council, but was reportedly also giving tours of the property
The latest record-breaking real estate deal closed in Malibu in April with the $110 million sale of restaurateur/hotelier Peter Morton’s Carbon Beach spread to natural gas billionaire Michael S. Smith.
More recently, supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber unloaded their beachfront pad for $45 million—no small sum, but $5 million less than the listing price.
