Dignitaries from across the area came to Malibu City Hall Monday to bid a fond farewell to outgoing City Council Members Joan House and John Sibert, each of whom has been involved with Malibu politics in one way or another for the majority of the city’s 25-year history.
Incoming council members Jefferson “Zuma Jay” Wagner and Rick Mullen, together with incumbent Skylar Peak, will be sworn in at the beginning of the next city council meeting on Monday, Dec. 12, at which time Sibert and House will officially step down from office — meaning Monday, Nov. 28 was the final meeting for the two longtime council members.

Cpt. Pat Davoren and Lt. Jim Royal of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station, together with other representatives from the department, give plaques to Joan House and John Sibert to thank them for their years of service to the city. “You guys are so professional, classy, down to earth and I just wish the federal levels of government would act like you,” Davoren said.
