wakeup call
I am a scholar of evenhandedness. For 16 or so years in lower school and college I was forced to be muted by authoritarian teachers/administrators and thus graduated with a lot to say, a memory of words and ideas, and a sense of right and wrong.
The financial path that John Deasy and the Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District are headed in is wrong. The vandalism of our taxpayer school funds is wrong. Jim Jaffe in his letter to the The Malibu Times, published in the June 15 issue points out the tribulations foreseen and expressed by the former Malibu Lily’s Café Steering Committee and the Save Our Schools Assemblage housed in Santa Monica.
Expulsion of the SMMUSD superintendent and the recall of Malibu resident, Board member Kathy Wisnicki, is the only suitable option for the unfortunate repeated flouting of promises to the Malibu voter. It is my hope that Ms. Wisnicki will defend her change from her previously stated position on the second SMMUSD parcel tax and rectify the rebuff of principles toward the SMMUSD Quality Public Education Preservation Act of 2003 Public Overview Committee. It is our committee, Ms. Wisnicki, and not yours nor is the committee answerable to the school board. It is our school district. It is our board.
As a supporter of Wisnicki (I voted for her), I am mortified by her lack of enthusiasm in representing the Malibu Voter and Parent. I hope we Malibuites serve her with a wakeup call.
Mr. Jaffe, thank you for acting as an overseer for all Malibu Voters.
And that is all I have to say.
