2:24 update: Kanan Dume Road has been re-opened after a traffic collision near the tunnel resulted in downed power lines and forced the closure of the road from Pacific Coast Highway to Mulholland Highway.

Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Dept. Lt. Patrick Mathers said the roadway cleared up at about 2 p.m.

The two-vehicle accident was reported at approximately 11:41 a.m. on Kanan Dume near Loftyhill Road. Mathers said the accident resulted in a downed power pole, which caused power lines to stretch across lanes of traffic. Southern California Edison spokeswoman Susan Cox said SCE workers had cleared the area. Cox also said SCE was working to restore power to eight customers who had lost it due to the collision.

Original post: Kanan Dume Road is closed from Pacific Coast Highway to Mulholland Highway due to downed power lines stretching across the road following a traffic collision Saturday morning near the tunnel.

Lt. Mathers of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station said a two-car collision resulted in a downed power pole, and power lines are currently stretching across both lanes of the road, necessitating the closures. Officials from California Highway Patrol and Southern California Edison are currently on the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid Kanan or expect delays.
