Malibu resident Kathy Eldon’s film, “The Journey is the Destination,” about her Reuters photojournalist son Dan, had its U.S. premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival this week. Eldon, pictured with the film’s director Bronwen Hughes and actor Gugan Singh, said she was “ecstatic” about the standing ovation the film received from an enthusiastic audience.
The film, shot in South Africa with producer Kweku Mandela, is based on a book by the same name and tells the inspiring story of Dan, born in London and reared in Kenya, who lives life to the fullest — giving back to those in need. Dan was killed in Somalia while working as a photojournalist at age 22.
