Debrah Caraway, the longtime Malibu Ralphs clerk known for her singing voice and cheerful demeanor, has retired from the supermarket. Above, Caraway and local fixture Dick Van Dyke share a laugh at a fundraising event.

A no-host celebration will be held at Coogie’s Sunday at 3:30 p.m. for longtime Ralphs Supermarket employee Debrah Caraway, who recently retired. Friends of Debrah are cordially invited. Please RSVP to Mary Higgins at mfhiggins@yahoo.com by Saturday at 5 p.m. for the Coogie’s count.

Known for her singing voice and her infectious, positive personality, Caraway retired from Ralphs this year after 36 years. She was not anxious to leave, but injuries sustained in a car accident last year made it difficult to continue working.

“It’s time to get to know me a little,” she said recently of her retirement. “Malibu made me a better person. If the Lord sent Moses to the desert, he sent me to Malibu.”
