Accident slows traffic near Rambla Vista and PCH

5:20 p.m. update: A sheriff’s official said the accident occurred when a motorist lost control of his vehicle and collided with a vehicle parked on the land side shoulder of Pacific Coast Highway near Rambla Vista Street.

Upon collision, the parked vehicle was launched entirely across PCH, where it came to rest on the ocean side shoulder of the highway, said Lt. Matthew Squire of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station. The driver’s vehicle came to rest after hitting a brick mailbox. The driver was transported to a hospital as a precaution due to the severity of the impact, which Squire called “pretty significant.”


 4:30 p.m. update: A Sigalert from 4:10 p.m. shows eastbound traffic on PCH moving between 12 and 17 miles per hour between Tuna Canyon Road and the crash site near Rambla Vista Street.


 A two-vehicle collision has slowed traffic on Pacific Coast Highway near Las Flores Canyon Road in both directions.

Emergency responders reached the scene at approximately 3:20 p.m. Friday afternoon. One battered car is resting on the land side shoulder of PCH, and a truck that appeared to be involved in the collision came to rest on the ocean side shoulder. A firefighter at the scene said it does not appear anyone was injured. A male was later seen sitting upright in a stretcher, and appeared to be alert and talking. The man appeared to be in the process of being taken to the hospital.
