We have just marked the 225th birthday of the United States Marines. I hope that we all pause to remember the valiant “soldiers of the seas” who have served this nation and offer a prayer for those who gave the last full measure so that we may enjoy the freedom we so cherish.
From the darks days after Pearl Harbor to the Gulf War, Marines have grown gray in the service of this nation; they have performed another great service, those who have been trained as Marines become the backbone of our society.
At the close of every Officers’ mess Night, the following toast is offered: “Long live the United States and success to the Marines.
Semper Fi!”
