Malibu City Council will vote next Tuesday on whether to raise City Manager Reva Feldman’s annual salary from $225,000 to $242,000, according to a recently published city council agenda. This follows a “positive” review of her performance as city manager over the past two years.

Feldman has been city manager of Malibu since former longtime manager Jim Thorsen resigned from his post in April 2016. Feldman, then assistant city manager, was soon hired on as his replacement, and for the past two years has led Malibu, adding to the city’s general fund reserve amount while maintaining Malibu’s AA+ bond rating from Standard & Poor’s.

In 2016, Feldman was hired on for three years. The new contract would extend her term as manager until May 2022. The proposed raise in salary turned some heads in Malibu after KBUU

News drew a comparison between it and the salary of the mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti. Garcetti, as of 2017, was making $246,303 per year, according to the state controller’s office.

Council will vote on Tuesday, May 29, whether to approve the proposed contract with Feldman.
