Malibu’s courtroom fell victim to county budget cuts Wednesday afternoon.Â
The county courtroom in Malibu, along with 9 others in cities such as San Pedro and Beverly Hills, will no longer hear trial proceedings but still handle ticket payments and other administrative tasks, according to the L.A. Times.Â
County officials expect the closures to cause longer lines at remaining courtrooms and lengthen the time it takes for cases to get to trial.Â
The closures are expected to take effect in the next six months, along with many court employee layoffs.Â
