Scott Williams Wells died at the home of his parents, Lori and Larry Gray, surrounded by family after a two-year battle with colon cancer June 29 at the age of 35.
Wells was born Sept. 19, 1976 and attended Webster Elementary School, Juan Cabrillo Elementary School, Santa Monica High School and graduated from Agoura High School. He attended San Diego State University and University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received a degree in film studies.
Those who knew him describe Wells as an extraordinary man who followed his heart, his passions and his dreams.
“Scott was an inspirational young man and visionary filmmaker whose story touched many,” Wells’ family wrote.
Ten days before his death, Wells married Limor Gottlieb in a service officiated by Rabbi Judith Ha Levy and Cantor Marcelo Gindlin from the Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue.
“He [Wells] was perceptive and sensitive beyond his years, and understood that there were vast realms which lay beyond his grasp,” Ha Levy said. “I was privileged to unite Scott and his bride Limor in marriage but a week before he died, and it was truly a marriage that linked heaven and earth. As his body failed, his spirit and capacity to express love grew stronger.”
Wells is survived by his mother Lori Lerner Gray, stepfather Larry Gray, and sisters Rachel and Rebecca; along with his father William R. Wells, and his wife Margie Wells and sister Stephanie of Calabasas. Wells is also survived by his three-year-old son, Scott Henry, who is living with grandparents Henryk and Lidia Roztoczynski of Chicago. Wells is the grandson of Matt Lerner from Long Beach and Glori Young from Ojai.
