After being postponed last Saturday, the Malibu Little League opens its season this Saturday at Bluffs Park.
The opening ceremony takes place at 10:30 a.m. for a half hour. Along with the first pitch being thrown out, team introductions and the national anthem will be conducted while sponsors will have displays throughout the day.
Jonah Stern, a twin brother of a player in the Malibu Little League Major Division, is slated to throw out the hardball first pitch. He recently returned from MD Anderson in Houston while currently battling cancer. Stern is completing chemotherapy at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
After winning their third consecutive “Majors” championship, the Phillies look to defend their title along with the AAA White Sox and AA Tigers.
