Local resident Dee Hayes produces “Butterflies are Free,” a comedy originally written by Leonard Gershe. Malibu’s own dominate the cast and crew, from director Veronica Brady to actors Dylan Hayes, Carson Meyer, Isac Sindell and Colette Kilroy. The play will debut on Friday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. in the Malibu Playhouse, located at 29243 Pacific Coast Highway.
Originally slotted for three shows, the play will now hold a matinee show on Sunday, Sept. 24, due to popular demand.
A Kickstarter fundraiser was started to raise funds for the show; “Butterflies are Free” has raised $17,805, $1,000 more than its original goal. Notable donors include Mayor Skylar Peak.
