In an age where gardening has been reduced to buying some parched plants from the fluorescent ambiance of a Home Depot warehouse and where children think eggs come from cartons instead of from chickens, it is always a pleasure to visit the Malibu Garden Center! It is a rare, authentic spot of country, with chickens, ducks and geese wandering about the gazebos and gardens, full of color and whimsical folk art.
There’s even a koi pond, and fresh eggs for sale! It is depressing to imagine that the developers of the Trancas Country Mart plan to destroy this unique spot to use as a staging area for trucks! It would be a much wiser marketing decision for them to honor their country mart concept and appreciate what a magnet it could be for their development. In doing so they might win back the loyalty of the local residents who cherish this spot and what it represents! Please join us at the rally on May 1 to support the Malibu Garden Center.
