The following was addressed to Sheriff Baca. We are eternally grateful for the precision used by your department in the recovery of our identical twin daughters, Mary and Morgan Corrodi, on August 14. Detective J.T. Manwell and his partner, Steve Rojella,, both from Lost Hills Station, were in charge of the investigation, and they did a fabulous job.

Our girls are 16 years old, but they look 22 years old, and they make decisions like 12-year-olds. We reported them as Missing Persons on Monday noon, the 11th. Every hour was agonizing after that, but Manwell and Rojella recovered the girls just 78 hours later in Pico Rivera, California.

When it was over, Robert Acosta, Case Manager for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, telephoned me and said, “Jack, you have no idea how fortunate you were to have Detective Manwell in charge of your case. I follow up on cases like yours every day, and rarely does anyone convince another law enforcement agency to pull out all the stops! Manwell asked LAPD nicely for help and got two dozen officers and a helicopter to respond. That never happens from my experience. You were lucky to have Detective Manwell.”

Thank you, Sheriff Baca, for having such a top-notch department. I don’t believe the City of Malibu is paying nearly enough for your services.

Jack & Kay Corrodi
