
The Institute for Local Government (ILG) awarded the City of Malibu a Beacon Spotlight Award on Oct. 3. The award recognizes the city’s efforts to tackle climate change, push for energy innovation and create sustainable communities.
Specifically, the city was awarded a gold level award for 14 percent energy savings and a silver level award for sustainability best practices.
In a statement from the city, Mayor Skylar Peak said, “…it’s a very proud moment when the city is recognized as an environmental leader for our efforts to protect the earth and our community for current and future generations.”
