Malibu native Kevin Joseph De Angelis died on Oct. 19 in Bothell, Washington from a hereditary heart condition. He was 37 years old.

De Angelis was born on May 18, 1978 in Santa Monica. He attended Juan Cabrillo Elementary School, Malibu Park Junior High and Loyola High School in Los Angeles. He received a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Embry Ride Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona.

De Angelis worked as an Analytic UI Developer for INRIX, a global trafficking, routing and road alert company. He also ran his own business on the side.

“Everywhere Kevin either worked or went to school, he gathered friends along the way,” a loved on said. “His passion in life was diversified on computers, cars, comedy, acting, and Washington wine and coffee.”

Before his marriage, De Angelis vacationed with his parents to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Disney World and the Dakotas. His adventures also included hiking the Grand Canyon with his college classmates.

“His soul mate Lisa and his two children were his greatest blessings,” a loved one said.

De Angelis is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Kyndall, son Beckett, parents Joseph and Phyllis, sisters Jennifer De Angelis and Paula Edwards, nieces Rachel De Angelis and Belle Edwards, and nephews Johnny and Christian Edwards.

“Kevin took every opportunity to enjoy the short life he had,” a loved one said. “He was funny, kind, and great son, a loving husband, a good father and a great friend to everyone who knew him.”

A celebration of De Angelis’s life took place in Bothell. A memorial mass and internment will take place at San Fernando Mission.
