Longtime Malibu residents Joe and Barbara Kurily recently passed away. Joe died in Oct. 2014 and Barbara died in Sept. 2015, both at the age of 93.
Joe was from Michigan and Barbara grew up in Illinois. The couple met in California and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They built their house in Malibu Park in 1961. Joe worked as a structural engineer and Barbara worked in his Santa Monica office.
The couple loved to backpack and travel, according to a loved one. They backpacked in California and Europe, and spent time traveling in Europe and the East.Â
The two are survived by Joe’s nieces, Barbara’s cousins, many friends and their dog, Shyla.Â
