In the midst of gearing up for its 10th annual Spirit of Goodwill Holiday Challenge, Malibu nonprofit Safety Harbor Kids received a virtual perfect score after an IRS audit. The nonprofit has posted its audit results online, along with tax returns.

“It was fun,” founder and Malibu local John Williams said in a statement provided to The Malibu Times. “When you are squeaky clean, you have nothing to worry about. I created this charity for our community to help kids and we have a responsibility to be beyond reproach. Our board does not get paid and our director makes about half the national average salary. Your donations go to the kids.”

This year, Safety Harbor Kids has set a goal to collect 1,000 toys and gifts for orphans, foster and homeless children of Malibu, Ventura County, Santa Barbara and Pasadena.

The local charity also has a lengthy list of commercial supporters that include SoCal Edison, Pepperdine University, Santa Monica Kiwanis, Geoffrey’s Malibu, D’Amore’s, Valet of the Dolls, J’Adore Les Fleurs, Bentley Beverly Hills and Engel & Voelkers.
