The Malibu Film Society has an action-packed week ahead with three upcoming screenings.

One of this year’s Oscar nominees for best picture, “Bridge of Spies,” will be screened on Jan. 31 at 7:30 p.m. The Cold War thriller features Tom Hanks, Alan Alda and best supporting actor nominee Mark Rylance.

A free public screening of ‘”Winter of Fire” will be held on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m., followed by a Q&A with director Evgeny Afineevsky. Nominated for best documentary feature, the film delves inside Ukraine’s fight for freedom as civil unrest and student protests turn violent and trigger Russia’s annexation of the Crimean Peninsula.

“Amy,” the story of jazz singer Amy Winehouse, will be featured in another public screening on Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A with director Asif Kapadia.

All screenings will take place at the Malibu Screening Room. Visit malibufilmsociety.org for more information and to make reservations.
