Last week in Malibu Creek State Park, boulders were broken down and removed from a blocked path on Mott Road.

“This slide is on Mott Road and it is one of the largest slides I have seen,” Lindsey Templeton, Supervising State Park Peace Officer for California State Parks, wrote in an email to The Malibu Times. “We are working to remove the slide as Mott Road is strategic to the park for rescues and emergency escapes.”

The hillside came down in the last big storm and the boulders were there for several weeks before they could be removed.

“We do not anticipate any further safety procedures to protect the trail,” Templeton wrote.

Angeles District Superintendent Craig Sap confirmed there was no way to prevent future boulders from coming down, but said California State Parks is prepared to act in the event of a future rockslide.
