Christmas may be over, but Malibu and the rest of Los Angeles still have good reason to sport novelty Christmas sweaters. With subfreezing temperatures expected overnight Thursday, a frost advisory goes into effect early Friday from 3 to 9 a.m.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory for the Los Angeles area, including Malibu and the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area. NWS predicts temperatures between 28 and 32 degrees overnight and advises people to shield plants from the chill. Frost can be deadly to outdoor plants if they are left uncovered.
