A traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a garbage truck has resulted in a fatality on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The incident took place at 6:55 a.m. on Pacific Coast Highway at Winding Way, per Lt. Greg Minster of the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.
Minster confirmed the motorcyclist was transported following the collision to a hospital, where the person later succumbed to their injuries.
All westbound lanes at PCH and Winding Way have been closed, per a City of Malibu alert. Traffic is being rerouted heading eastbound; eastbound traffic is down to one lane. Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes.
Minster estimated at least an hour before lanes would begin to reopen. The city’s alert said to expect delays for several hours.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released.
