Letter: Malibu road concerns

Regarding the article on the front page of The Malibu Times last week [“Speeding blamed for PCH accidents”], evidence gathered from most reliable sources definitely leads to distracted driving as the etiology for accidents on PCH. What authority is documented for the safety study that Elano Pizzicarola refers to in your newspaper?

While we are on the subject of speeding, the article by Melissa Caskey, directly below Pizzicarola’s article [“Council OKs $1 million for street paving”], states that 14 speed bumps are to be installed on Malibu Road. There is a serious question as to whether speed bumps can be installed, since Malibu Road is still referred to as a California State Highway. Some humor about the unbroken double stripe, which translates to unlawful crossing to wrong side of road in order to not demolish pedestrian or bicyclist, we trust the double striping will be deleted when the road is resurfaced.
