Three reserve deputies from Malibu Search and Rescue (SAR) received medals from the California Emergency Medical Services Authority on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Reserve deputies Sand and Marshall received Lifesaving medals for their “heroic off duty resuscitation efforts on a man who suffered a heart attack and later survived.” Meanwhile, reserve deputy Franco, who conducted an active shooter training—involving over 250 people and 36 different agencies—at Pepperdine University, was awarded the Meritorious Service Award.
