The following crimes were reported in Malibu between June 14 and 16:

The keys to burglary

– A vehicle was burglarized around 3 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway near Leo Carrillo State Beach. An iPhone, wallet and miscellaneous cash were stolen from the locked vehicle. The victim reported hiding the keys to the vehicle near the trunk of the vehicle. The suspect reportedly found the keys, unlocked the vehicle, took the items from the vehicle and returned the keys to original hiding place. 

– Another vehicle was burglarized near the scene and the suspect again found a hidden key and unlocked the car to take a wallet, a check and credit cards. The credit cards were then used at two Target locations to purchase goods totaling over $5,000 before the cards were declined at a third location.

Home Invasion

– A burglary was recorded on Seahorn Drive with victims reporting an estimated $28,000 worth of stolen goods. The suspect may have entered the property through an unlocked rear patio door and left with a rare diamond engagement ring, a diamond watch, pearls, an envelope of cash and a small black safe containing old documents. The property was not equipped with surveillance and there are no suspects.
