Drivers in jeopardy

Regarding your story in this week’s issue of The Malibu Times on traffic safety on PCH, twice in the past few weeks I have witnessed near fatal accidents when drivers ran red lights. In the first incident, a woman in a Range Rover ran the light heading north at Carbon Canyon. I was stopped in the inside lane at the light, and a small car was turning left into Carbon Canyon when the Range Rover ran the red light in the outside lane. Fortunately the driver of the small car hesitated before turning and avoided being broadsided. I caught up with the driver of the Range Rover at the Malibu Lagoon, rolled down my window, and told her that she ran a red light at Carbon Canyon and almost killed someone. She said she was unaware that she had run the light!

In the second incident, a car heading north on PCH ran the two lights at Las Flores, narrowly avoiding not one, but two accidents. The car continued to weave in and out of traffic, and I lost him/her. I would judge that these two drivers are Z-traffickers, hurrying to get somewhere else, and not caring if they endanger someone else in the process.
