Power was out to Western Malibu Friday afternoon, March 11, while heavy rain hit the area. Outages included traffic signals at the key intersections of Pacific Coast Highway and Bush Drive, Morningview Drive, and Trancas Canyon.
The power was reported out around 1:50 p.m., according to officials with the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department.
“We have deputies on scene now,” Deputy Braden said Thursday afternoon at about 2:20 p.m. “Edison is en route down there.
“They had some call 30 to 40 minutes ago up on Morningview of a power line down, or someone saw something, and possibly they have a transformer problem over there.”
A Southern California Edison outage map listed 722 customers being without power as of 1:58 p.m. Friday.Â
The City of Malibu reported power was out in the Zuma Beach/Trancas area but did not provide an estimate for its restoration.
