Flint, Michigan activist LeeAnne Walters, U.S. Congressman Ted Lieu and Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District board member Oscar De La Torre will be honored with the America Unites for Kids Champion of Children Award at the organization’s vintage Hollywood-themed gala on Friday, May 20, at the Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue.

The gala will be hosted by Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, who temporarily withdrew their children from Malibu High School due to their belief there is toxic contamination at the campus and are advocates for PCB removal at schools nationwide.

The black-tie event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature dinner, cocktails, entertainment and a special speech by Environmental Working Group President Ken Cook.

Editor’s note: The story has been changed to state that Crawford and Gerber only temporarily withdrew their children from Malibu High School.
