Beachcomber’s Michael Jordan

The Beachcomber has announced the appointment of Michael Jordan as president, overseeing The Beachcomber restaurants at Crystal Cove and Malibu Pier.

With more than 35 years in the restaurant business, Jordan brings his food and beverage expertise to his new position, including a Master Sommelier diploma with the International Court of Master Sommeliers and the Certified Wine Educator Diploma from the Society of Wine Educators. Jordan is one of only 15 people in the world to hold both diplomas.

Nicknamed the “sommelier for the people,” Jordan said he is passionate about wine education, and will offer comprehensive wine study courses for all staff members at The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove and Malibu Pier, including a two-day test administered by the Court of Master Sommeliers. Additionally, Jordan will enhance and expand the wine and beverage program at The Beachcomber at Crystal Cove and Malibu Pier, with the objective of demystifying wine for guests.

Jordan most recently worked as global manager of Wine Sales and Standards (and Wine Educator) for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Worldwide, and as general manager of the world famous Napa Rose Restaurant. For nine years, Jordan managed all the fine dining venue’s staff and operations, and also served as the restaurant’s expert sommelier and wine director. Prior to joining Disney, Jordan opened the award-winning Pinot Provence restaurant in Costa Mesa where he was the general manager.

“We are pleased to welcome a master sommelier to the Malibu coast,” says Doug Cavanaugh, Chairman and CEO of The Beachcomber.  “His extraordinary expertise in the food and beverage industry and his passion for Southern California makes Michael a great asset for our company.”

Jordan is a native Angeleno who grew up in Hawaii. He earned a degree in Food Service Management at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. Jordan currently resides in Costa Mesa, Calif. with his wife Teresa. He enjoys surfing and playing music in his free time.
