More than 3,000 athletes gathered at Zuma Beach Sunday morning for the 21st annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon. The race consisted of a half-mile swim, 18-mile bike ride and four-mile run. The event raised more than $718,000 for the pediatric cancer research program at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Chris Foster won the Elite Male Division, finishing the 22.5-mile race in one hour, 15 minutes and 32 seconds. Anissa Sequin took the Elite Female championship in 1:30:06.7. Malibu Mayor Pro Tem Pamela Conley Ulich took home the Celebrity Female title, while Andy Baldwin was the Celebrity Male victor.
The winners by division were Gianna Fote (female 14-17), Mickey M. Davis (female 18-24), Nicki M. Loranger (female 25-29), Tina Geller (female 30-34), Kara Rossi (female 35-39), Amy Aukstikalnis (female 40-44), Claudia Campos (female 45-49), Cary Craig (female 50-54), Patricia Buchanan (female 55-59), Carole Mawson (female 60-64), Amy Dodson (female-challenged), Jared N. Brown (male 14-17), Chris Berg (male 18-24), Daniel Condon (male 25-29), Jonathan Toker (male 30-34), Jay Kuderka (male 35-39), Holger Beckmann (male 40-44), David C. Meyer (male 45-49), Brian Fong (male 50-54), Peter Hoyt (male 55-59), Thomas P. Duket (male 60-64), Ronald Adamson (male 65-69), Bill Harter (male 70-74), Wayne Fong (male 75-79), Bill Bell (male 85+) and Willie Stewart (male-challenged).
