Former NBA star Scottie Pippen has filed a counter-lawsuit against a man he alleges assaulted him, called him the “N” word and inflicted emotional distress upon him at Nobu Malibu last June, according to multiple media reports.
Pippen is seeking an unspecified amount in damages. The lawsuit stems from a June 23 altercation when Pippen was dining at the popular restaurant with his family and Carman Shafighi apparently began snapping photos of the six-time NBA champion inside the popular sushi spot, investigators said.
As Pippen left the restaurant, Shafighi approached him outside in the parking lot and a “physical altercation” ensued, according to Sheriff’s investigators.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office declined to pursue charges against Pippen in the case and no arrests were made. Shafighi sued Pippen in July alleging assault and battery, with Shafighi claiming Pippen spit on him, kicked and punched him after allegedly being asked for an autograph and photo.
