A class action lawsuit has been filed in LA County Superior Court against Paradise Cove Land Company, the Kissel Company and defendants including Steven Dahlberg. Plaintiff Douglas Jablon, a Studio City resident who is represented by Himmelstein Law Network, seeks restitution for himself and on behalf of anyone who has paid to access the public beach.
The complaint cites both the 1976 California Coastal Act and Paradise Cove’s lease, quoting from where the lease states: “Access should be provided to and through the leased area for the general public, including non-paying visitors.”
Jablon cites various recorded instances of Paradise Cove and Kissel Company charging visitors to access the beach, and cites “all persons who paid money to defendants, or any of them, to access the coast or any other area required to be accessible to non-paying visitors at [Paradise Cove] on or after July 20, 2012” as being members of the class that could take part in the case.
