Jennifer McIntyre has been honored The Malibu Times Mother of the Year Rosie Award.

Her four sons, Morgan, 14, Macon, 12, Madison, 10, and William, 8, nominated McIntyre.

Macon said in an interview with The Malibu Times, “The reason we [entered our mom in the contest] is we wanted to give something back to her because she’s given so much to us, and we’re just happy that she’s our mom and we wanted to do something nice for her, so we put in everything [in the essay] that she did nice for us.”

As to hearing about the news that his mother won the Rosie Award, Macon said, “I’m really happy, she’s given so much to us, and it’s nice to see her get something, she’s been through so much with our dad [who has been sick].”

Following is the essay the four McIntyre brothers wrote about their mother:

“Our Mom is an amazing mom to us four boys and deserves to be The Malibu Times Newspaper 2009 Mother of the Year. She manages our school, sports and extra curricular schedules so all of us get to be in the activities we want to be in. She is really good at helping us with our homework and supporting us in school, hockey, flag football, “The Nutcracker,” “Torch Club”…and so much more. She is a great mom because she is able to balance all of our needs, all at once, when they are usually all different; she works with us to make decisions based on being fair and doing what is right. She also provides us with what we need and surprises us with gifts we want.

Three of the best reasons why our mom should win mom of the year are her cooking, her scrapbooking and how she helps our dad.

First, she makes us delicious homemade dinners every night. We love her chicken, steak, and macaroni & cheese {she also makes cakes that are out of this world!} Second, she scrapbooks with us so that we have memory books to look at and remember moments that happened throughout our lives.

Finally, our dad was really sick, and she was there for him and us while he was in the hospital and still helps him today to get better so he can be at home and play with us.

We love our Mom!”
