- = Stockholders need not worry … Edison has enough money in the bank to cover wildfire costs and still pay out 920 million dollars in profits this year.

Crews for contracting companies and Southern California Edison have completed reconstructing a 5 mile long powerline linking Western Malibu to a substation in Latigo Canyon.
The Galahad feedline was destroyed in the fire … helicopters and cranes perched on narrow … steep mountain roads were used to reconstruct the 16 kV line.
Last night … Edison crews began reconnecting some areas that have been without power.
Houses along Winding Way West and Murphy Way were lit up last night … for the first time in 19 nights.
Other crews began disconnecting generators that were brought into temporarily power Malibu West … Broad Beach and Trancas.
Those customers are slowly being reconnected to the grid … causing brief scattered outages during the switchover.
For other neighborhoods … the lights went on for the first time.

Southern California Edison’s shareholders should continue get their dividends paid … for their investments … according to a stock analyst quoted by Barrons magazine yesterday.

Rain is coming to Southern California … and Malibu can expect big waves as well.
Rain will begin to fall this evening in Malibu … the expected totals have inched up a little bit.
At a minimum … we should see at least three quarters of an inch of rain.
Up to an inch and a half is possible.
That’s just below the USGS threshold for mudflow predictions.
No need for evacuations are envisioned at this time.
Winter storms in the Gulf of Alaska are sending swell that will finally arrived here today.
Waves of to 12 feet higher possible on beaches with western exposures.
Local sets up to 15 feet are possible across exposed west-facing beaches for Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
The peak of the highest surf from Thursday through Friday morning. Surf will taper off beginning Friday afternoon.
A high tide of 5.6 feet is expected around 1 pm today,

Starting at about 4 o’clock … we see a 60% chance of rain.
Sunset tonight at about 4:35 … and there’s a 100 percent chance of rain tonight …
Total accumulations of at least three quarters of an inch of rain.
Maybe an inch and a half.
No intensive rain is expected and there is little chance of mudflows tonight.

Tomorrow … rain until midmorning … then clearing.
Altogether … we should get three quarters of an inch of rain at a minimum.
Maybe up to an inch and a half.
But the rain will not be intense … and are -not- expected to cause any mudflows.
There are -no- evacuations scheduled.

At Leo Carrillo Beach…. the thermometer is melted.
Upper Malibu Canyon … (((( 52 )))) .
And at Civic Center Los Angeles … (((( 56 )))).
In the ocean … it’s (((( 59 )))) degrees in the water at Zuma Beach.

At daybreak ….the waves today are (((( 1 to 3 )))) feet high ….
Those are (((( fair )))) surfing conditions …. according to the lifeguards.
