The Malibu Hornets Little League softball squad claimed first place in last weekend’s District 25 Southern Californian Tournament of Champions after a hard-fought battle against West LA’s Elite Squad.
The team secured 12 stolen bases in the back-and-forth matchup, led by top base stealer Tyler Seashols. Anniston Aragon, Olivia Berns, Betsy Hopkinson, Tess Hopkinson, and Jasmine Bellamy all managed multiple hits in the game, which ended in a 13-11 victory for Malibu.
The team’s roster includes those named plus Zocelyn Zabaldo, Raya Israel and Reghan Marlow.
The team is coached by MHS student Amelia Goudzwaard, along with Peter Hopkinson. Sophia Chaisson also assisted this weekend.
