Between Thursday and Sunday, 685 people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence throughout Los Angeles County, according to the LA County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff ’s stations across the county took part in an Independence Day Anti DUI crackdown, conducting routine traffic enforcement and DUI checkpoints.
The number of DUI arrests is up from 2012. During the same time period last year, 503 people were arrested for DUI in the county.
Law enforcement officials plan to conduct further DUI enforcement around the county throughout the summer, including an 18-day Summer Campaign starting in August and ending Labor Day weekend.
